RSPCA
Bristol & District Branch, Registered Charity no. 205858
The
standards of animal care and welfare at the RSPCA
Clinic are excellent and constantly improving.
We
have a professional and dedicated veterinary
team consisting of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 7
Veterinary Nurses, 3 Animal Care Assistants
and 2 Receptionists.
Together
they provide round-the-clock care for in-patients
and emergency admissions. The Clinic team is
kept extremely busy; we can treat 50 or more
animal patients a day.
We
care for most of the sick and injured stray
animals in the Bristol area. These are sometimes
claimed by grateful owners, but more often they
are genuinely “homeless”.
These animals
stay with us until they are completely well
and are then transferred to the Bristol Dogs
and Cats Home to be put up for adoption.
Please always telephone before
bringing an animal to the Clinic.

wards recently.
Most
of our patients are domestic pets but we also
provide emergency treatment and first aid for
wildlife casualties. If they are suitable for
rehabilitation and release, these animals are
transferred as quickly as possible to the experts
at the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital at West Hatch.
Badgers,
foxes, swans & ducks, pigeons and hedgehogs
can frequently be seen on the wards, awaiting
their “ambulance” ride to West Hatch.
Please
always telephone before bringing an animal to
the Clinic.
One
of the most difficult yet most satisfying parts
of our work is looking after cruelty cases brought
in by the Inspectors. Staff at the Clinic and
Dogs & Cats Home work tirelessly together
to care for these animals.
It is always
heart-breaking when one first comes in, but
knowing that they have been cruelly treated
makes nursing them back to health all the more
rewarding.
The
RSPCA Clinic provides a low cost veterinary
service for pets whose owners are unable to
afford full private veterinary fees. The service
is for people living within the Bristol &
District Branch area.
Owners
will only be eligible for RSPCA subsidised veterinary
treatment if they are living on a low income
or in financial hardship. Owners who are able
to pay ordinary veterinary fees are referred
to local private veterinary practices.
Pet
owners wishing to find out if they are eligible
for RSPCA Clinic help should call the Clinic
on 0117 9724567.
Clients

Thousands
of pets are lost every year and many are never
reunited with their owners. The RSPCA believes
that the best way to make sure you find a missing
pet is to have it microchipped – implanted
with a special microchip ‘tag’.
Once
the animal has been microchipped, it has its
own unique code number. The owner’s details
and the code are put on to a national computer
database and, if a lost or stolen animal is
found, the code will be revealed by passing
a scanner over the microchip. Then it’s
just a matter of matching the code with the
database to find contact details for the owner.
We
provide a microchipping service for all pet
owners.
Microchipping an animal is as simple as giving
it an injection. Please call for details.
