We are
always looking for people to help with our fundraising events. E-mail
us at fundraising@rspca-bristol.org.uk
if you would like to help with any of the events listed.
If you are interested in arranging your own event please let us know
what you are planning. We can help by sending you a pack full of ideas
and also help you publicise your event. Click
here for some ideas for your event fundraising ideas.
Previous events that volunteers have organised are: Coffee mornings,
skittles nights, cream teas, sponsored dog walks, race nights, gigs
and more! Fundraising can be social, fun and very satisfying too. For
more information contact fundraising@rspca-bristol.org.uk.

One
of the ways you can help with Animal Care at the home is to dog walk.
The home often has over 100 dogs in its care, all needing to be walked
every day, so dog walkers are invaluable to us! For more information
on dog walking please click
here.

Volunteering
as a Trustee
Under
Charity Law, in common with all charities, the final responsibility
for running the RSPCA Bristol & District Branch rests with the Committee
comprising of from 7 to 14 elected volunteer Trustees. This board of
trustees are also the managing trustees of the Bristol Dogs & Cats
Home.
Here
in Bristol we are very lucky to have a dedicated group of 9 Trustees,
most of whom have been with us for some years, indeed the Chairman,
Jonathan Parker and President, Philip Parker, are descendants of Edward
T Parker the co-founder of the Home in 1887. However, we are actively
looking for more Trustees.
The
Committee meet once a month at 6.00 pm until 8.30 pm. The Managers of
the Clinic, Home and Branch work directly with the Chairman and Honorary
Treasurer and attend the Committee meetings as required. In this way
the Trustees have direct reports on the work being carried out. Other
than the Chairman and Treasurer, the Trustees do not have specific areas
of responsibility, but have an input into the decision making at the
meetings.
If you
would like to have more information or to discuss this essential volunteer
role in maintaining the Bristol Branch activities please contact info@rspca-bristol.org.uk.

Home
Visitors visit potential animal adopters in their own homes. Full training
is provided. They give advice and report on the suitability of the home.
After an animal is adopted, a further visit is made at a later date,
to see how the animal has settled in.
To be a home visitor you need to be fairly flexible, have transport,
and willing to travel to visit homes, often at short notice. You must
have had previous experience of animal care. Regular meetings for Home
Visitors are organised.

Work at our
RSPCA Charity shop can be varied. Many volunteers find working
in the shop social and fun. Volunteers can be involved in sorting
goods, steaming, arranging displays, serving customers and other
general duties. Volunteers work from just a few hours to a full
day, any help is appreciated. For more details contact fundraising@rspca-bristol.org.uk
Donations of
clothes and bric a brac are always welcome, please note that
we are unable to take large items such as furniture. Food and
blankets for the Bristol Dogs Home can also be donated at the
shop.
